From Representation to Artistic Exploration

In the early years, my painting grew out of observation: landscapes, villages, architecture and recognisable places. Over time, however, a faithful representation of reality began to feel too limiting.

The human figure, the body and eros became the ground for a freer exploration. Colour gained greater autonomy, forms began to transform, and matter gradually entered the painting.

It was an important transition in my artistic journey: from figurative painting to the need to interpret, reshape and reconstruct what I see.

The solo exhibition “Dal classico all’erotico informale”, presented in 2012 at Villa Pirandello in Rome, brought together and made visible this transformation.

In just a few years, landscape representation gradually gives way to a freer kind of painting, in which colour, gesture and matter become part of the subject itself.

From Classical to Informal Eroticism — Rome, 2012

This phase of my research finds its synthesis in the solo exhibition “Dal classico all’erotico informale”, held in 2012 at Villa Pirandello, Rome.

The exhibition brings together works belonging to different moments of my journey, from figurative painting to the progressive exploration of the body, colour and matter. The title arises precisely from this dialogue: not a sudden break, but the story of a transformation.

The Research Continues

The experience of informal eroticism was not an isolated episode, but a stage in the gradual transformation of my pictorial language. The figure, matter and colour would continue to re-emerge in the years that followed, eventually flowing into an increasingly free exploration between reality and imagination.
