I am not interested in simply reproducing a place.

What I seek is what that place continues to tell me, even when I am no longer looking at it.

Each of my works begins with a monument, a square, a village or a real landscape. I observe it with respect, I study its history, its proportions and its light, so that its identity remains intact.

Then the journey begins.

Reality slowly gives way to memory. Trees acquire a soul, houses lean as if they were breathing, the sky opens into delicate geometries, and light becomes the thread that binds what exists to what I imagine.

I do not transform places to distance them from reality.

I transform them to bring them closer to emotion.

Each painting is an attempt to make visible that invisible part which belongs to memories, dreams and wonder.

This is why my works do not depict imaginary places.

Places change.

The emotions they hold remain.

I don't paint what I see.

I paint what a place
